You' ve got your degree and the adult life is about to begin. Time to decide whether to live with your parents for a while or find your own place. Not an easy decision to make... Both have their pros & cons. We've listed them for you below. 👇
🏡 Home sweet home
Some of the young adults suffer from loneliness when they move out to live on their own. When you live with your parents , you don't face that problem as much. After work, you come home to the rest of the family. This way you have company more often and can chat about your day.
🤑 Your bank account will thank you
Energy prices, rental prices and housing prices are skyrocketing... In short: life is getting more expensive. For recent graduates, it's tricky to live alone right away and be able to pay all of the monthly expenses. If you stay at home, and manage your money wisely, you can save quite a bit. The Center for Budget Advice and Research (CEBUD) calculated that the monthly expenses of young people who live with their parents are 716 euros less than their peers who rent a home. This advantage to living at home is often decisive for young adults.
We're not going to beat around the bush. One of the biggest advantages to living at home is that you don't have to do much yourself. You often only have to help a little to maintain the house, cook or clean. In short, you have far fewer responsibilities. And you don't have to worry about things such as subscriptions, insurance policies, etc. Easy peasy.
Moving out
💪 Take ownership of your life
Living alone does include the responsibilities listed above. You're independent and have to deal with your own affairs. However, being able to make your own choices gives you a lot of satisfaction. Moreover, you can always ask your parents for help if things are unclear.
👀 Privacy incoming
No longer having to justify your actions is another reason why many decide to live alone. Not having to consider others is a true luxury. Would you rather not live all by yourself? Then start looking for a roomie that matches your vibe and share an apartment or house.
😎 My house, my rules
Living alone implies a lot of freedom. You decide for yourself what to cook, when to clean and who to have over. Moreover, you have the TV all to yourself and you can decorate your place according to your own taste. So don't be afraid to take your life into your own hands when you're ready to do so.
